116 Church Pew

Seek me and you will find me. But where? Where do we seek? Is it strictly in a pew for an hour on a Sunday morning? Tuning our ear to only this qualified minister. Do we seek half-heartedly? Counting on the app on our phone to remind us of the verse of the day? It struck me this evening, in talking to a friend, that so few people find God's true heart. So why would I look in the places they look? People look for Him where it is easy to look. In relationships that don't cost anything. In affiliation with those of common interest. In places they have found God years ago. I suspect it must be better to look in places most people reject. In people who are annoying. In situations that cost you dearly. Giving when you have so little to give that God Himself must provide. Holding the hand of the battered and the brokenhearted. This is where you will find the God you are seeking. He is not here in this pew. This pew is just where we meet to tell the stories of where we met God this past week. Where our faith is grown through testimony. Where we receive new challenges, new ideas, and encouragement in our own personal journeys with the God who desperately wants to be found.
