131 Patient Love and Perfect Judgment

Genesis 15:16

God spared the Amorites until their iniquity had reached its full measure.

How often do we watch evil prosper as Christians and wonder why? God makes rain to fall on the evil and good alike because He longs for both camps to know His true character. His true character is perfect in love and in justice. God's patience spans generations. The God that created, desires mercy and withholds judgement until every chance at repentance has been granted. God sought the testimony of his character to be known even to those living in the land promised to Abram. He knew they were wicked but they evidently still had not reached the epitome of their rejection of God. So God waited. Granting opportunity to the Amorites. Opportunity for them to turn from their wicked ways.

If we are to look at life through the lens of God's true character then we ought to remember that if we have been saved, then God is just as desperate for everyone to be. His judgement will be perfect and His love patient.
